TO KNOW THE DARK

TO KNOW THE DARK

The Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB) recently attended our School Overnight Program, as they have for the last few years.

Emily Owens, a science teacher at the school, and an alum of our graduate program, wrote this beautiful letter when WSSB students and staff returned home.

The letter included this stunning poem, To Know The Dark, from Wendell Berry:

“To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.

To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,

and find that the dark too, blooms and sings,

and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.”

Thank you for sharing this precious letter, and poem, Washington School for the Blind. ❤️
