April 14 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

He’s back! Washington State’s own John Cornish is a mineral and fossil educator who passionately shares his love of the Earth Sciences through his energetic, family-friendly, Geology ROCKS! program.

Come prepared to smile, laugh and be fascinated as we learn more about the natural treasures awaiting discovery here in the Pacific Northwest! Seen by tens of thousands, young and old alike, bring your interest, questions, and as time allows, please bring a small treasure for John to identify for you – and we’ll see you here!

This program has been a historic sell-out, so do not delay in acquiring your tickets. John’s educational presentation is wildly entertaining, hopeful, and conveys a deeper message: follow your dreams and curiosity and you will always find treasure along the way.

  • This event is indoors in our beautiful Great Hall. Please note below our requirements on masking for this specific community event.
  • This educational presentation is truly for all-ages. John’s displays of minerals, gems and fossils are as jaw-dropping, as his enthusiasm for the science of discovery.
  • Please remember our campus policy is ‘no dogs unless they are a service animal.’
  • We love sweet endings to our events at IslandWood and your ticket price includes a homemade cookie!

Please note that we are requiring all attendees to mask during this event, due to the health concerns for one of our presenters and support staff, whom is severely immune-compromised. We will not allow entry into the program without a mask, and we appreciate so much your compliance and compassion to keep this community member safe at all times. We have masks to provide if you do not arrive with your own.
