BAINBRIDGE ISLAND READS & ISLANDWOOD PRESENT: NATURE WALKS AT ISLANDWOOD

September 28, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

As a complement to the Bainbridge Reads reading and discussions of Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, we are offering plant walks on our forested campus. Even as the season turns, there are plenty of trees, shrubs, and forbs to discover along the trails. The walks will be led by our Sr. Naturalist, Christina Woolf, and group size is limited to 20. The pace will be meandering and full of wonder on mostly even terrain. Please dress for outdoor success, the walks are on rain or shine!

Expert fisherman, canoe builders and basket weavers, the suqʷabš live in harmony with the lands and waterways along Washington’s Central Salish Sea as they have for thousands of years. Here, the suqʷabš live and protect the land and waters of their ancestors for future generations as promised by the Point Elliot Treaty of 1855. While the majority of our work takes place on Suquamish and Duwamish (dxʷdɐwʔabʃ) land, we also conduct programs on the land of the Snohomish (sduhúbʃ), Puyallup (spuyaləpabš), Muckleshoot (buklshuhls), Skokomish (sqoqc’bes), and S’Klallam (nəxʷsƛ̕ay̕əm) peoples.
