IslandWood’s trail systems will be open this day only for your self-guided exploration.
Hike leisurely down the Spine Trail and traverse the ravine on a suspension bridge. Climb our Canopy Tower to get a birds-eye view of the land – we’ll have friendly docents to guide you at this structure. Meander through hemlock and red-cedar woods and make your way towards Mac’s Pond to scout for ospreys and eagles. Head up the Cemetery Trail and peek in the Mill Worker’s Cabin or head south to explore the more elusive “Lower Loop Trail” full of mossy wonders, maidenhair ferns, and hooty owls.
Heading back to campus, take the Spine Trail north with a visit to the Bird Blind to observe waterfowl and other wildlife. Both treehouses will be open for your visit, too!
Bring those turkey-day leftovers for a Leave no Trace picnic to remember. We can’t wait to meet your family and friends. Our team wishes you a very happy Thanksgiving and sends our gratitude for your continued support of our mission.
Your health and safety, as well as that of our staff, is our first priority. IslandWood is following all state and federal guidelines for your safety, as we always have. If you or any member of your party in your household is feeling unwell, we ask that you remain home to rest and recover. This event is outdoors, however check-in and wayfinding with our maps happens inside our beautiful Welcome Center building.
Service animals only, please. Our campus is a wildlife refuge and 250-acre wildlife corridor on the south end of Bainbridge Island.
