Pronouns: she/her/they/them
Kim grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent many of her childhood summers camping and hiking with her family. In high school, she went on her first backpacking trip, which is where she truly gained a passion for being a part of nature and exploring the outdoors. After receiving her B.S. in Psychology and volunteering as a mentor with youth, she discovered a strong interest in working with underserved communities. These various passions inspired Kim to move to Washington and accept a position as an AmeriCorps member serving youth in the town of Darrington. Since this role, she has continued her work in outdoor education as a Camp Director and Outdoor Education Manager. In 2024, she joined Islandwood as the Registrar and Administrative Coordinator with the Urban School Programs team. In her free time, she loves to read fantasy and sci-fi novels, explore the PNW, and dance to live music!
IslandWood acknowledges that we live and work on the ancestral land of the Coast Salish people, who have been stewards of this region's land and waters since time immemorial, and who continue to protect these lands and waters for future generations, as promised by the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855, the Treaty of Point No Point of 1855, and the Treaty of Medicine Creek of 1854.
While the majority of our work takes place on Suquamish (suq̀ʷabš) and Duwamish (dxʷdɐwʔabʃ) land, we also conduct programs on the land of the Snohomish (sduhúbʃ), Puyallup (spuyaləpabš), Muckleshoot (buklshuhls), Skokomish (sqoqc’bes), and S’Klallam (nəxʷsƛ̕ay̕əm) peoples.
