Ben Nimmergut, Vice President, Boeing

Ben Nimmergut is vice president for Engineering Functions and the Washington State Design Center. He is responsible for engineering functional organizations and the Washington state design centers for all commercial airplanes, as well as the continuous improvement and utilization of the technical workforce. Previously, Ben was the director of Manufacturing Technology Integration – Commercial with Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) where he led a team of 550 engineers and technicians implementing materials and manufacturing technologies for Boeing’s commercial airplane products. Before that he was the 777 Airplane Level Integration chief engineer and the 777 Production Engineering chief engineer. He helped to lead the Program in modernizing the production system in preparation for the 777X aircraft. Ben joined Boeing in 2001 as an interiors design engineer in the Everett facility on the 777 Program and has held several different Interiors leadership positions on the 747, 767 and 777 Programs. He has served as the Chair of Sierra Club’s Inner City Outings program where he oversaw the operations of over 100 volunteers that took inner city youth into the wilderness. Ben received Master in Business Administration and Master in Engineering Management degrees from Northwestern University and a Bachelor Degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University. He lives in Seattle with his wife and two daughters and enjoys backpacking, video games and Legos!
