VOICES FROM THE FIELD AT ISLANDWOOD

In June, we welcomed students to our Bainbridge campus for the Voices from the Field program. The program, funded and run through Washington State’s Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, is designed to increase student skills and learning in mathematics, English Language Arts, science and social studies for middle-school children identified as migratory from across Washington State. Voices from the Field was created to close the achievement gap in science and other core subjects for children of agricultural families who face unique academic challenges due to sometimes frequent school transitions.

Fifty-two students from Brewster, Burlington Edison, Kiona Benton, North Franklin, Sunnyside, Tonasket, Wahluke, and Wapato school districts spent five days on our campus participating in hands-on learning, exploration, and discovery! Check out this video to get a glimpse into their experience.
