“Gently close your eyes and take in a nice deep breath. Do this several times and allow your body to relax more and more with each deep breath.” Twelve 5th graders in the School Overnight Program stretch out on pillows in a wooden loft as I guide them through a mindfulness meditation.
It was my second full day with the 5th graders in Team Bog. We had tasted plants around the garden; discovered “magical” purple beans; and gathered herbs, vegetables, and fruit for our “communi-tea” and Soil to Snack project.
The gift of environmental education is a gift for us all.
