This video tells the story of one class’s participation in our Salmon in the Schools program. The script was written and narrated by Rachael LeValley’s 4th grade class at Kimball Elementary. Growing and releasing salmon is a rite of passage for students in the Puget Sound region. Through the program Salmon in the Schools, students learn about the role humans play in protecting our local waterways. Each year, about 70 schools receive salmon eggs in January, grow and take care of them for several months, and then release them in local waterways in the spring.
