Our annual Poetry in the Woods is an inspirational weekend with renowned poet, author, and speaker, David Whyte, on our Bainbridge Island campus. David guides participants in an exploration of how imagination and creative expression can awaken the courage to simplify, to act, and to have a life worth living at the center of our endeavors.
Our innovative chefs showcase local, organic, and sustainably sourced ingredients in exquisite meals that reflect both the current season and the bounty of the Northwest. All meals are served family style in our Dining Hall, fostering community and connection.
Our lodges combine the comfort of modern accommodations with the natural rustic beauty of the Northwest. The lodges have a total of 53 guestrooms, each with a private bathroom, and can sleep up to 200 guests. Every lodge has a spacious great room with a fireplace and seating for gathering, game-playing, reading, and relaxing. All beds on our property are made up with organic cotton bedding for a dreamy nights sleep! Wireless internet service is available throughout our campus and our staff is on hand to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

IslandWood acknowledges that we live and work on the ancestral land of the Coast Salish people, who have been stewards of this region's land and waters since time immemorial, and who continue to protect these lands and waters for future generations, as promised by the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855, the Treaty of Point No Point of 1855, and the Treaty of Medicine Creek of 1854.
While the majority of our work takes place on Suquamish (suq̀ʷabš) and Duwamish (dxʷdɐwʔabʃ) land, we also conduct programs on the land of the Snohomish (sduhúbʃ), Puyallup (spuyaləpabš), Muckleshoot (buklshuhls), Skokomish (sqoqc’bes), and S’Klallam (nəxʷsƛ̕ay̕əm) peoples.
