MUSHROOM MANIA!

Toadstools, puffballs, chicken of the woods, witches’ butter, stinkhorns, turkey-tail, earthstar, shaggy manes…fungi have such fabulous common names!

 

Join us for a wild mushroom identification walk and see what’s growing in IslandWood’s 250-acre forest on Bainbridge Island. You’ll learn where to look for different species and gain identification tricks of the trade from seasoned foragers.

We’re incredibly thankful for our long-standing partnership with the Kitsap Peninsula Mycological Society (KPMS)! Their dedicated volunteer guides and instructors have been instrumental in bringing the wonders of fungi to life at IslandWood for over ten years. They truly illuminate the forest floor (and stumps, and trunks!) with their expertise.
