JEDI in Our Accounting, IT, and Facilities Teams

JEDI & OUR ACCOUNTING TEAM

The Accounting team, like all other teams at IslandWood, has been working to incorporate a JEDI lens into their work as much as possible. Examples include:

  • A line item in our annual budget for JEDI initiatives that has increased every year since 2015.
  • We revised job descriptions for open positions to focus on what is required for each position, without inflating educational requirements.
  • We prioritize candidates of color for open positions.

JEDI & OUR FACILITIES TEAM

The two areas where our facilities team has focused their application of a JEDI lens most predominantly is in hiring and contractor selection. In working with external vendors, we actively seek out female and BIPOC-owned companies in our request for proposal process.

JEDI & OUR IT TEAM

Like our facilities team, JEDI in our IT team is most readily seen in our prioritization of BIPOC candidates for open roles and in our vendor selection. Our external IT partner, Interplay, demonstrates a commitment to a racially diverse staff that we have appreciated for many years. The team also works with staff that speak English as a second language to use translation capabilities in their use of Office & Windows-based work.
