Our annual Poetry in the Woods is an inspirational weekend with renowned poet, author, and speaker, David Whyte, on our Bainbridge Island campus. David guides participants in an exploration of how imagination and creative expression can awaken the courage to simplify, to act, and to have a life worth living at the center of our endeavors. Revenue generated from this event provides critical funding for IslandWood’s education programs – thank you for your support!
Our 7th annual Poetry in the Woods was held on March 1-3, 2019. Information about our next Poetry in the Woods weekend will be added soon.
Our 250-acre wooded campus is located on Bainbridge Island, just a 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. Our Northwest-style lodges feature an expansive gathering space, with rustic artisan furniture and a soaring hand-hewn fireplace made from indigenous stone. The spacious guestrooms sleep four to six adults in a combination of queen beds and twin bunks. Each guestroom contains a private bathroom, separate from the shower, plus laundry and refrigeration nearby within each lodge. Complimentary wireless internet service is available throughout our campus and the staff is on hand to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Our innovative chefs showcase local, organic, and sustainably sourced ingredients in exquisite meals that reflect both the current season and the bounty of the Northwest. All meals are served family style in our Dining Hall, fostering community and connection.
A full refund, less a service charge of $100 per person is given for cancellations received a month prior to the event. Regrettably, no refunds can be made for all cancellations received on or after that date.
