“The training brought together a great location for learning, experts in the field of stormwater and motivational speakers in education to put on a great training. And they crammed a ton! of content into a three [now four] hours workshop.”

– Christian Berg, Workshop Participant

Would you like to learn more about how urban water systems actually work? Are you curious how water systems, the impacts of climate change, and related conservation issues can interest your students and integrate with NGSS? Join us to learn about wastewater and stormwater systems, tour the Renton Wastewater Treatment plant and then workshop how you might use this content in your classroom.

Important Notes:

  • Dates may change. Registrants will be contacted if they do.
  • This workshop is also being offered at the Brightwater Wastewater Treatment Plant in Woodinville and in Pierce County.
  • This workshop is also taking place in south Snohomish County, Pierce County and Kitsap County. It is intended for teachers and informal educators who teach science to 4th through 12th grade students. Other teachers are welcome to join but may find the examples provided less relevant to their classrooms.
  • Consider bringing your grade level team so you can collaborate with them during the workshop.
  • This workshop includes a $120 stipend for public school teachers who complete related surveys. The stipend will be mailed (with other stipends and workshop fee refunds) at the end of the school year.
  • 4 STEM clock hours are available pending approval from the Puget Sound ESD. Clock hours will need to be claimed and paid for on the ESD website after the workshop is complete.

This is an IslandWood-King County program funded by King County Wastewater and OSPI through its ClimeTime Grant.
