PUBLIC SITE TOUR

June 23 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free
An image of the Bog Treehouse.

It’s June and the dragon flies are emerging. Come see this sign of summer and find cool refuge in the shade of the forest. Peek into our lodges and visit our Great Hall, as you learn about IslandWood’s programs, serving students, teachers, and the community.

A volunteer docent will lead this three-hour walk through our ecologically diverse campus, visiting a cattail marsh, pond, forest, and ravine, as well as field structures such as a suspension bridge and tree house. In addition to natural history, you will learn about the various sustainable elements of the buildings and our educational programs This tour is for adults and teens 15 and up.

  • Wear comfortable shoes. The walk is moderate (with possible mud, steep hills, and gravel).
  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing; much of the tour takes place outdoors.
  • Water bottles are encouraged, but please no food.
  • We ask that no children younger than 15 years old be brought on the tour. (A small child in a carrier is ok, but please, no strollers.)

We work to ensure that all reasonable accommodations are in place so that everyone can fully participate and learn during their time on our campus. All indoor spaces and many of our outdoor spaces and field structures were built and are continually maintained to meet ADA code, adhering to WAC 51-50. If you have any questions, please contact us at 206.855.4300.
