ISLANDWOOD OPEN TRAILS DAY – WITH A SPOOKTACULAR SPIN!

October 29, 2021 @ 7:00 am - 11:00 am

Free
A child holds a large maple leaf up to their face. Halloween-themed illustrations, including a tree, ghost, cobweb, and spider, are overlaid on the image.

Take a walk in the woods and get in the spirit of the fall season!

Enjoy our trails and get some mileage out of your Halloween costume at the same time! This family-friendly event will feature seasonal treats for you, a visit to the garden to learn the science of squash, storytelling next to a roaring bonfire at the Friendship Circle, and a boneyard investigation with Dr. McDiggins! Come later in the day if you want to turn your trail walk into a crepuscular creep! Naturalists will be on the trails to visit with you and share some spooky scientific facts about nocturnal wildlife. We can’t wait to see you all dressed up! (Costumes are encouraged but not required. If you are an adult in costume, please remember that this is a family-friendly event!)

This event is free with a $10 suggested donation per family to support IslandWood’s education programs.

Health and Safety

Your health and safety, as well as that of our staff, is our first priority. We’ll be limiting the number of guests walking the trails and will be acting in accordance with current health and safety guidelines. We ask that you do the same, and that you bring a mask to wear and maintain social distancing between households to keep you and those around you safe.

Accessibility

We work to ensure that all reasonable accommodations are in place so that everyone can fully participate and learn during their time on our campus. All indoor spaces and many of our outdoor spaces and field structures were built and are continually maintained to meet ADA code, adhering to WAC 51-50. Learn more about the physical accessibility of our campus here. Service animals only, please.

IslandWood is grateful for the support from the Fletcher Bay Foundation.
