In response to Governor Inslee’s call for increased social distancing related to COVID-19, IslandWood has made the decision to cancel Afternoon on the Trails on April 19th. While the event takes place mostly outdoors and on our trails , we know the most responsible decision for the health and safety of our community is to reduce bringing together large groups of people.
Few things bring us more joy than people spending time exploring, experiencing and learning about the environment around them. So while we’re disappointed to cancel this event, we encourage you to take this time to explore the magnificent forests and trails of our region.
We hope you and yours are healthy during this unprecedented time.
Warmly,
IslandWood
Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day and hike our trails under towering cedars and climb our Canopy Tower to get a view of Mt. Rainier. Pack a picnic and lunch in one of our cozy treehouses, or spread a blanket alongside Mac’s pond. IslandWood’s trail systems will be open for self-guided exploration. Please check in at our Welcome Center (main building) upon arrival for a map and to talk to our friendly volunteers about what trail is best for your interests and needs.
We will again be hosting our Ask a Naturalist table, so feel free to bring in found natural objects you would like to identify or explore closer with our experts. Please only bring in “ground found” natural objects, such as feathers, cones, shells, bones, small stones, etc. Bring only photos of living plants or animals.
- All ages welcome!
- Bring a picnic, pack it in — and pack it out.
- Please no dogs unless they are a service animal.
Thank you!
Special thank you to Puget Sound Energy for sponsoring this event!
