Pronouns: she/her/hers
Soon after moving to Bainbridge in 2000, Pamela Holmes followed with great interest the news of a planned outdoor learning center on the island. Six months after IslandWood’s official opening, she joined the organization as a volunteer and, shortly thereafter, became a staff member. Currently the Director of Operations, Pamela brings extensive administrative experience to the position from a variety of businesses and organizations, including in the area of community development. “I feel very fortunate that IslandWood is in my backyard and that I’ve had the opportunity to grow and evolve along with the organization over the past 16 years. Starting as a volunteer, I immediately felt connected to the mission and vision, and knew I wanted to be a part of IslandWood long term.”
IslandWood acknowledges that we live and work on the ancestral land of the Coast Salish people, who have been stewards of this region's land and waters since time immemorial, and who continue to protect these lands and waters for future generations, as promised by the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855, the Treaty of Point No Point of 1855, and the Treaty of Medicine Creek of 1854.
While the majority of our work takes place on Suquamish (suq̀ʷabš) and Duwamish (dxʷdɐwʔabʃ) land, we also conduct programs on the land of the Snohomish (sduhúbʃ), Puyallup (spuyaləpabš), Muckleshoot (buklshuhls), Skokomish (sqoqc’bes), and S’Klallam (nəxʷsƛ̕ay̕əm) peoples.
IslandWood is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our tax ID number is 31-1654076.
