Laury Bryant has spent the past twenty plus years in the public relations/public affairs fields. Her career has included communications advice for individuals, foundations, Fortune 100s, non-profits and start-up companies. She started her career in the heyday of the technology sector where she lead the early communications work at Aldus Corporation, now Adobe Systems. She went on to work with Microsoft’s Public Relations agency, Waggener Edstrom until breaking out on her own. LB2 was purchased by Washington DC-based APCO Worldwide in early 2000, where she worked in their strategic philanthropy division. While her clients’ needs are varied, all draw upon her skills, including: communications strategy and planning, key message development, media relations and training, media database management, and focus group research. She co-founded Partners for our Children – a public/private partnership within the University of Washington’s School of Social Work. Other board seats have included the Venture Philanthropy organization, Social Venture Partners. Laury is a communications graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle.
IslandWood acknowledges that we live and work on the ancestral land of the Coast Salish people, who have been stewards of this region's land and waters since time immemorial, and who continue to protect these lands and waters for future generations, as promised by the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855, the Treaty of Point No Point of 1855, and the Treaty of Medicine Creek of 1854.
While the majority of our work takes place on Suquamish (suq̀ʷabš) and Duwamish (dxʷdɐwʔabʃ) land, we also conduct programs on the land of the Snohomish (sduhúbʃ), Puyallup (spuyaləpabš), Muckleshoot (buklshuhls), Skokomish (sqoqc’bes), and S’Klallam (nəxʷsƛ̕ay̕əm) peoples.
