Darren Kerbs, Director of Philanthropy

Before joining IslandWood in 2019, Darren served as a managing director within the Virginia Mason Health System in Seattle. During his 14-career at Virginia Mason, he provided leadership and contributed to various philanthropic areas, including donor fundraising events and major gifts, foundation relations and grants, community guilds, and the hospital gift shop. Earlier in life, after earning degrees from Pacific Lutheran University, Darren remained at the university as a member of the alumni relations team, which thankfully launched his vocation in nonprofit advancement. Darren deeply values building authentic and meaningful relationships with donors and discovering creative ways to align individual passions with organizational needs. Off the clock, Darren enjoys getting his hands in the soil and continuing his lifelong hobby of tinkering at the piano. He is honored to support the valuable mission of IslandWood, and is always up to chat over a cup of coffee.
