Celina Steiger, M.A.Ed., Urban Programs Coordinator

Celina is (so far) the only person to have graduated from both of IslandWood’s graduate programs, completing the Education for Environment and Community program in 2003, and then a Masters in Education through the Urban Environmental Education program with Antioch University in 2016. She is a program coordinator with IslandWood’s Urban School Programs team based in Seattle In this position, she enjoys collaborating with teachers on neighborhood-centered science curriculum and supporting educators teaching IslandWood Urban School Programs. Celina has delivered and coordinated environmental education programs working with schools for over 15 years. Celina is committed to personal and professional growth and change as she contributes to efforts to unpack and undo systems of inequity in environmental education. Listening, self-reflection, and relationship-building are central to how she approaches learning and teaching. Celina likes to cook, garden, and explore the region through birding, hiking, kayaking and camping in urban and less-urban nature with her partner and “framily” (friend family).
