We recently took a moment to celebrate the incredible educators in IslandWood’s Urban School Programs, who inspire students daily at Brightwater and across our Seattle programs. Alexei Desmarais, our Urban School and Community Education Manager, shared some heartfelt recognition of the amazing work our educators do every day.

Alexei presented a lively word cloud, crafted from the enthusiastic feedback we’ve received from teachers who partner with our programs. It was packed with words like “engaging,” “excellent,” “hands-on,” and “enthusiasm.” Each word highlights the passion, effectiveness, and wonderful classroom management skills that our educators consistently demonstrate.
Teachers often comment on how engaging our educators are, describing how they bring excitement and hands-on activities into every lesson, making learning relevant, fun, and meaningful. Feedback regularly underscores our educators’ ability to connect with students, manage classrooms thoughtfully, and spark curiosity and joy in environmental science.
While this word cloud only captures a small part of their impact, it’s clear evidence of how valued our educators are—not just by our internal team, but also by the teachers and students we work with every day.
