Volunteers are active in every aspect of IslandWood—from gardening and landscaping to educational and community programs, administration, and special events.
Group and Corporate Volunteers
IslandWood is a favored destination for groups who are looking for an outdoor volunteer experience close to Seattle. IslandWood can arrange a volunteer project for groups of 10-50, taking into consideration their skills and interests. Opportunities include stream and site restoration, trail maintenance, and other customized projects.
Docents help connect visitors to IslandWood's mission while guiding them on a tour of our sustainably designed campus and many of the trails on the 250-acre site. Docents receive extensive training in Puget Sound natural and cultural history, as well as sustainable design. The next docent class will meet in the spring. If you are interested in actively leading hikes and tours and would like to take part in the training, email Tamar Kupiec (email@example.com).
High School Students
IslandWood provides opportunities for students to earn community service hours while working with peers, having fun, helping our mission, and learning while doing. We need help with land stewardship and community programs like HOWL-o-ween and offer volunteer opportunities with our summer camps.
