IslandWood in the News

Outside Magazine
Today I have the pleasure of sharing some exciting news. For the fourth year in a row, IslandWood has been selected as one of Outside Magazine’s Best Places to Work 2014, hitting the list at #57. Each year, Outside recognizes the top 100 companies in the United States that help their employees strike the ideal balance between work and play. I’m especially proud because IslandWood is always one of the few nonprofit organizations on this list. Congratulations to our team for all the great work you do and for making IslandWood such an incredible place to work. The entire list of winners appears online at Ben Klasky, President and CEO
On the evening of September 17th, IslandWood hosted the first program in the three-part Environmental Perspectives series at Town Hall Seattle. Before a sold-out audience, IslandWood board member Nate Miles moderated a dynamic panel discussion that explored the importance and the challenges of connecting more people of color to the outdoors, starting in home communities. The Town Hall setting introduced more than 150 community members to IslandWood as a key stakeholder in the movement to increase diversity in environmental education and conservation. We are pleased to share the video of the full program, courtesy of the Seattle Channel.
