Discovery, Adventure, and Learning

When your child returns from a visit to IslandWood, you’ll likely hear stories of climbing into tree houses to observe wildlife, tromping along trails to identify native plants, animals and insects, using hand-held technology tools to measure oxygen and PH levels in water, and singing songs around the Friendship Circle campfire. You may also notice something on a deeper level—a renewed interest in the natural world surrounding your own home, and a growing sense of community stewardship. Maybe it’s simply turning off lights when they leave a room, or making sure that a soda can is recycled and not thrown into the trash. Simple things that, over time, make a difference.

Our goals are to enliven the learning process through safe, discovery-based activities that encourage your child to think critically, creatively, and responsibly, and to support their teachers' goals and curriculum. Our state-of-the-art classrooms, dining hall and cozy sleeping lodges – and an expert faculty – make the School Overnight Program a fun, adventurous week of learning for all students, teachers and chaperones. For more information, or to take an online tour of our campus, click on the Related Content links below, or explore our menu. We also offer summer and year-round weekend programs for children, families, and adults.
