Interns

IslandWood offers a flexible intern program for students attending accredited universities and colleges. We combine your areas of interest with our current needs to develop an internship that is ideal for you.

It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

In the past, interns have worked on video production, graphic arts, developing marketing materials and participated as field instructors during summer programs.

Teen Interns!

If you are between the ages of 16 and 18 years old, you may apply to be a member of our Teen Intern program. We offer sessions each quarter during the school year and summer. Teen interns work in many different capacities at IslandWood depending upon their area of interest.

For more information about IslandWood's intern program, please contact Volunteer Resources at volunteer@islandwood.org or (206) 855.4300.

Barred Owl

The Barred Owl is a medium-sized owl streaked with white horizontal barring on the chest and vertical barring on the belly. They prefer moist coniferous forests, wooded swamps, and woodlands near waterways as habitats. Unlike our image of nocturnal creatures, barred owls are also often active in the daytime.
