About Homewaters

Our Mission

Our mission is to create an engaged and informed citizenry by connecting people to nature and each other in the context of their home communities.

Our Vision

Our vision is that throughout their education, people are prepared and inspired to create healthy communities, where human activities fit within the limits of natural ecosystems.

Our Audience

Homewaters serves the students of the Seattle area, their teachers, and members of the community. Recognizing the importance of connecting all students to their home place, we work hard to make our programs available to underserved populations.

In the 2010-11 school year, Homewaters served:

  • 2,105 students
  • 80 teachers
  • 31 schools

Our Organization

Homewaters, a program of the IslandWood nonprofit organization, delivers hands-on educational initiatives in Seattle, Washington.

The People Behind The Scenes

The small Homewaters staff relies on the generous support of many skilled volunteers. We have committed partner agencies, and a host of volunteers.
