Admissions

Requirements

To be considered for the Graduate Residency in Education, Environment and Community at IslandWood (EEC) program you must have:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (minimum 3.0 grade-point average preferred).
  • Experience and/or interest in education.

Tuition

Tuition for the 2008-2009 EEC Program is $17,000. Tuition includes:

  • 13 graduate courses
  • Low faculty/student ratio with extensive advising, mentoring, and interactions
  • Housing—including private room with phone, high-speed Internet and other utilities; shared commons house with kitchen, full laundry facilities and computer
  • Board when teaching in the School Overnight Program

For 2008-2009, the tuition for students who would like to complete the EEC Program while living off-campus is $12,750. Tuition for the 2009-2010 academic year will be posted in December 2008.

Application Deadlines for 2009

The EEC program will accept and notify applicants on a rolling basis beginning in January 2009. Decisions cannot be made until all application materials have been received.  The following incentives have been created for early applications. When all application materials are received by January 1, 2009, a $500 tuition discount is applied; applications received by February 15, 2009 receive a $250 tuition discount.  Additional applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.

Financial Aid

Loans

The EEC program is not able to participate in federal loan programs, however we have been approved for career and continuing education loans through private lenders. Please contact the EEC program coordinator for a list of lenders and additional information.  Students who choose to matriculate at the University of Washington for the Masters in Education Degree are eligible for federal student loans upon acceptance at the University of Washington..

Campus Jobs

Paid campus jobs are available at IslandWood in various departments. Students apply for and are assigned to their jobs in October each year, after the completion of orientation.

Scholarships

The EEC program has a limited number of scholarships available for graduate students. Scholarships have been created to encourage diversity and help students meet their financial need. For more information, contact the program coordinator.
