Ichthyology Inn Rooms - About Each Species
Want to find out a bit about the fish species we named our rooms after? This is the place!
When we decided to name the new lodge the Ichthyology Inn, we were excited by the chance to help folks learn about the diverse fish species found in the Pacific Northwest. We solicited help from the Seattle Aquarium and they gave us a list of about 30 possibilities. We asked several groups to take a look at these pages and let us know which ones they like. As a result, we have the following species represented in our Ichthyology Inn rooms.
(Our apologies to any species not present - the lodge would have covered our entire campus if we built a room for every species.)
- Bay pipefish (Syngnathus leptorhynchus)
- Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha)
- Coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch)
- Grunt sculpin (Rhamphocottus richardsonii)
- Kelp greenling (Hexagrammos decagrammus)
- Pacific halibut (Hippoglossus stenolepis)
- Pacific herring (Clupea pallasii)
- Pacific spiny lumpsucker (Eumicrotremus orbis)
- Penpoint gunnel (Apodichthys flavidus)
- Red Irish Lord (Hemilepidotus hemilepidotus)
