2009 Teacher Education Conference - The Summer Institute will allow participants to develop a deeper understanding of sustainability education as it applies to K-12 schools. Sessions are designed to provide specific, useful information that teachers, school administrators, and teacher educators can apply in their own classrooms and programs.

Practical strategies and resources for integrating sustainability education concepts into K-12 curriculum, school operations, and teacher preparation programs.
This three-day conference will provide PK-12 teachers with Experiential and Engaging Strategies for sustainability education. Workshops will focus on offering teaching strategies that are both relevant and transferable to a wide variety of school environments.
The conference is organized to create vibrant learning communities that include teachers, administrators, and teacher education faculty and administration. General sessions will be led by nationally recognized leaders in sustainability education and focus on larger sustainability concepts. Topical strands will focus on real-world models and strategies of interest to specific learning communities.
THE REGISTRATION FEE: Early Bird discounted rate of $475.00. Register prior to 5:00 pm, May 1,2009. After early bird cut off the rate will increase to $500.00. Registration is based on triple occupancy and includes all meals, accommodations, conference registration, and materials. A scholarship rate of $350.00 is available for IslandWood School Overnight Program Participants.
CLOCK HOURS: You may earn twelve clock hours at the conference - cost included in the registration fee.
CANCELLATION POLICY: If you cancel prior to July 1, 2009 a refund will be issued less a $50.00 administrative fee. If you cancel after July 1,2009, a refund will not be issued. Although we make every effort to adhere to our program schedule, extenuating circumstances may cause IslandWood to cancel our program in which case a full refund will be issued.
